How to keep your floral arrangement fresh

  • Freshen up the water frequently, ideally daily or at least every 2-3 days.
  • The water temperature makes a difference.
    - Cold water for fresh-cut flowers (e.g. tulips)
    - Tepid water for mixed floral arrangements
    - Warm water for sprigs and stems
  • Prune any foliage that will be below the waterline. Avoid any leaves in the water.
  • Cut the stems at an angle. This increases the cut surface area for better water uptake. Re-cut the stems on days 3-4.
  • Avoid excessive heat or blooms will open too fast
  • Avoid direct sunlight
  • Remove wilted blooms. A rotting stem alters the water quality and damages other stems.
  • A floral arrangement in water should last 5 days, and ideally longer
