Her home is minimalist but never cold; simple yet far from sterile. Light and lamps act as small beacons of warmth, thoughtfully placed to create a cosy glow during Denmark’s long winters. Soft, neutral tones like beige and pastels bring a sense of calm, with a consistent colour palette tying the home together, room by room.

“A home should feel cosy and welcoming, but it shouldn’t feel cluttered. I deliberately keep things minimalist because it gives me peace of mind when there’s not too much to distract me”, Christina Dueholm explains.

One cherished example is an heirloom from her grandmother—a stunningly ornate manor mirror now adorning the bedroom.

“It used to hang in a hotel more than a hundred years ago”, says Christina Dueholm.

Now, it connects her to both her family and its history. Worn with age yet fully functional, the mirror symbolises her decorating ethos, where personal stories and timeless design coexist, and imperfections add warmth and charm.

“I love the idea that one day my children will inherit the things we use daily—just as I did with treasures from my childhood home”, Christina Dueholm says.

Balancing beauty and practicality can be a challenge, especially when insisting that a home must both function and inspire. Sometimes, incorporating new items requires careful consideration.

“I often weigh aesthetics against practicality, but if I had to choose, aesthetics would win,” Christina Dueholm admits before adding:
“But things still need to work in our daily life.”
