Useful advice
To your Eva Solo product
Coffee and tea
You need to use 25-35 g when making 0.6 litres, 45-60 g when making 1 litre and 65-75 g when making 1.4 litres, depending entirely on how strong you like your coffee.
The neoprene cover keeps the coffee at serving temperature for up to 30 minutes. The tip-up lid also helps to retain the heat.
When brewing black tea it is important to use boiling water. However, for green tea and oolong tea, you should not use water which is hotter than approx. 80°C. The water should therefore be allowed to stand for about 5 min. after it has boiled.
The glass flask, tea and coffee inserts as well as the tip-up lid are all dishwasher-safe.It is important that all parts are kept clean with no soap residues. If old coffee and tea residues are not washed off properly, they can lend an unpleasant flavour to the freshly brewed coffee or tea. Soap residues can also make your next pot of coffee or tea taste unpleasant and flat.
Tensions can occur in the glass (for example as a result of knocks and bangs) which may cause it to break. We do not a warranty on glass or porcelain, but it is possible to replace the glass insert, which can be purchased as a spare part.
Water and carafes
If you are finding it difficult to remove the silicone collar, try moistening it with water first.
For information on how to look after the neoprene cover, refer to the care instructions. The cover can be washed by rinsing it under the tap in warm water.
Pots and pans
Cookware with a non-stick coating should always be cleaned using a soft brush/sponge and washing-up liquid. It is important that the pan is properly cleaned each time after use.
If the non-stick coating darkens over time, it is due to a thin layer of burnt egg white from the food.
This can easily be removed by filling the pan with water, adding 4-5 tablespoons of washing powder (for clothes) and allowing the solution to simmer for approx. 45 minutes. Stir occasionally with a washing-up brush or nylon spatula. Repeat if necessary. Then, using washing-up liquid, clean the cookware, before finally wiping a thin layer of vegetable oil around the inside.
Avoid leaving food to stand in non-stick cookware for long periods of time as it may damage the coating. Any acid in the food will eat into the pan.
Small white marks can appear on the cookware if you add salt to the water before it starts to boil. Salt is an alkali which can corrode the material. It may be difficult to remove these marks if the corrosion has caused heavy pitting of the material.
Sometimes, the inside of a steel pot or pan may acquire a rainbow hue. This usually results from salt and acids in foods and can easily be removed with steel polish.
It is a well-known fact that many people only fry food on the highest temperature setting. This uses far too much energy. Using a thick-bottomed pan for frying saves energy and thus money. Heat the pan, add some fat, and once the fat has turned brown and reached the right temperature, place the meat in the pan. As soon as the fat begins to bubble and spit, turn down the heat slightly. When turning the meat, if the fat is still bubbling and spitting turn down the heat to the lowest setting. The meat can now finish frying with the heat from the frying pan and the heat source.
If the outside of the cookware becomes matt or milk white, it is a sign that the cookware has been in the dishwasher. The aluminium surface of Eva Trio Dura Line is not dishwasher-safe.
As long as the surface is only slightly matt, it may be possible to “re-establish” the grey colour by wiping some liquid scouring cream onto the side and allowing it to stand for a while. Then rinse it off. Use the soft side of a combined scouring pad/sponge, and always rub using horizontal movements, following the structure of the material.
Glasses and wine
All Eva Solo glasses are dishwasher-safe, and the the glass will retain its unique brilliance. However, it is preferable if your dishwasher has a special glass program (low temperature).
It is best not to leave glasses standing in the dishwasher once the wash program has finished. This is because the humidity in the machine can cause the glass to deteriorate.
If your glasses are cloudy or look as though they have been used to drink milk, it may be due to wear or because too much detergent and rinse aid have been used. It is possible to remove the film by placing the glasses in hot water with acetic acid (200 ml of 32% acetic acid for every 1 l of water). You could also try tipping some citric acid into the machine and washing the glasses at the highest possible temperature.
Tableware and flatware
The easiest and best way of looking after your flatware is to wash and dry it as quickly as possible after use. Do not leave the flatware lying about unwashed as acids in some foods (such as salt, vinegar, mustard, ketchup, mayonnaise, eggs etc.) can corrode the stainless steel. Similarly, the flatware should never be left to soak in water as the material cannot withstand constant exposure to moisture. Avoid using detergents which contain chlorine.
This is rust film. It comes from any non-stainless items in the dishwasher such as the wire on a cheese cutter, a grater or non-stainless steel pots and pans.
Try using ordinary rust remover, which is sold in most supermarkets. If the damage is done, then clean your dishwasher by running it empty with citric acid. This will remove any remaining rust film. It is also possible to buy specialist cleaning agents to remove rust film.
Flatware can certainly leave marks on the glaze of the porcelain. However, it is possible to remove these marks using an ordinary steel polishing agent or ceramic hob cleaning agent on a cloth.
The porcelain warranty covers all Eva Solo/Eva Trio porcelain. Read the porcelain warranty here.
